Obituary for Carol Ann Smits

Carol Ann Smits, 91, of Hudsonville, passed away on Sunday, February 7, 2021.

Carol was born in Grand Rapids, on March 11, 1929, to Edward and Charlotte (Pastoor) Yonker. Carol finished high school and later married Kenneth Smits. Carol and Ken raised their three children in Grand Rapids and were members of Forest Grove Christian Reformed Church. Ken preceded Carol in death in 2011.

She is survived by her son Brian and Barb Smits, daughter Laurie and Dave Vonk, son Jack Smits, her grandchildren: Jason Smits, Justin and Alexandria Smits, Jeremy and Kelly Vonk, Kerri and Mark Burns, Holly and Matt Smit, Jared and Leah Vonk, Nikki and Mark Mol, Curtis Smits, 16 great-grandchildren, siblings:, Anne and Ray Browneye, Ed and Marge Yonker, Helen and Rich Hoekstra; and many extended family.

A funeral service (masks/facial coverings required) for the Smits immediate family and congregation members of Forest Grove CRC will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, February 10, 2021, at Forest Grove Christian Reformed Church, 3515 Perry Street, Hudsonville 49426. A viewing time and to visit for funeral attendees will be from 1:00-2:00pm prior to the service. The funeral service will also be livestreamed on the Forest Grove CRC Facebook Page. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Grand Rapids. Memorial contributions may be made to Forest Grove CRC.
