We are heartbroken for the Van Skiver family. Allison had an infectious laugh and a sly smile that let you know she was plotting to brighten your day. She did not tolerate cruelty to others and she gave you her undivided attention if you asked for it. Her wit, her sarcasm, her beautiful voice...all of that gone means the world is a little dimmer. She will not be forgotten. Our prayers for comfort and healing go out to Bill, Laura, Gilda, Billy and Allison's extended family. XOXO

I worked with Allison at Holy Trinity and did a mission trip with her to West Virginia. I loved her commitment, her wisdom, her compassion, and the warm, lively sense of humor that made them all work together so well. She was greatly loved by so many, including me, and her presence on this earth will be sorely missed. My deepest condolences to you in this hour of extreme darkness.

I ran into Allison on August 18th of this year. We had not seen each other in quite a few years. She gave me a big hug and we chatted for a bit. Our families attended second congregational church together in my childhood. I remember her sense of humor and smile. Allison and I were in youth group together in the 1980's. We had a great group of kids who had a lot of fun together. She will be missed by many.. but never forgotten. R.I.P. Allison.

I am very sad to learn that Allison has passed on. She and I worked together at Holy Trinity High School in Chicago, where Ms. Van Skiver was beloved by students. She was warm and caring, supportive and attentive, but also silly and goofy, which are all attributes that young people need from their mentors. Allison and I were not in touch for some time, but I cherish my memories of her, and I am grateful that our paths crossed. Her loved ones are in my prayers.

Allison will truly be missed. She went above and beyond to get my daughter a full scholarship to a school that was not on our radar and it was such a blessing. I love her down to earth personality. My daughter Sharky and I send our love to her family. Thank you for being a light.

Allison and I worked together for 3 years as Registrars, me at GRP, her at Wellspring. When she moved into Academic Advising and spent part of her week at GRP we got to be good friends. We bonded over the most ridiculous things. Her love of students and advocating for them was apparent to anyone who met her. She made a difference in the lives of the countless students and staff she worked with. Her absence will be felt.

Growing up with Allisons niece, Emma, as my best friend, made for tons of fun memories with family. I will always remember Allisons witty sense of humor and how much I would laugh when I got the opportunity to be in a room with her. She will be dearly missed and I cherish the kind soul that I got to know over the years. I send my love to family and I will be praying during this time of hardship.

I met Allison in the 6th grade and she left quite the impression. Her smile was unforgettable and her laugh was infectious. Our paths would cross again at an impromptu reunion of old friends and it felt like the years melted away. Sad to say that Sunday afternoon lunch nine years ago, was that last time I saw her. My deepest condolences to her friends and family. God bless you all and may He comfort your broken hearts.
